← Core Mechanics A character’s Lucky and Unlucky Numbers determine when they critically succeed or fail. A character has Lucky Numbers equal to their Luck Bonus, and Unlucky Numbers equal to five minus their Luck Bonus - chosen randomly at character creation.

A critical success is a dramatic, stunning success. A critical failure is an abysmal, terrible failure. GMs should apply circumstantially appropriate effects in either case.

NPC criticals

NPCs and creatures do not have Luck. Instead: a roll of 1–3 is a Critical Success, and a roll of 98–100 is a Critical Failure.
